Judge Florence Ring Peskoe

Superior Court Judge Florence Ring Peskoe was the first woman to serve as clerk of the New Jersey Supreme Court and as deputy administrative director of the courts. 

Superior Court Judge Florence Ring Peskoe A graduate of Wellesley College and Rutgers School of Law-Newark, Judge Peskoe was designated acting clerk in 1972, and she was officially named clerk in April 1973.

After resigning as clerk, Judge Peskoe was named deputy administrative director of the courts.  She served in that capacity until 1980, when she was appointed judge of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court in Monmouth County. 

She became a judge of the Superior Court in 1983, serving in the family and civil divisions of the Monmouth County Superior Court until her mandatory retirement date in 2000.

Judge Peskoe died on Sept. 4, 2008.
