Judiciary Times Wins Professional Journalists' Award
Judiciary Times, the quarterly newsletter of the New Jersey Judiciary, has received a second place ranking in newsletter writing from the New Jersey Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. The publication, edited by Judiciary Publications Manager Mike Mathis under the direction of Judiciary Communications Director Winnie Comfort, was one of only three newsletters honored in the Newsletters and Online Publications category of the chapter’s annual contest. It was the only government publication to receive an award.
“Judiciary Times is an essential part of our communication efforts, both internally and externally,” said Judge Glenn A. Grant, acting administrative director of the courts. “It offers substantive information to educate and inform our workforce and the public about our ongoing efforts to continuously improve our services. We are tremendously proud of Winnie and Mike for this well-deserved recognition.”
The New Jersey Chapter of SPJ was founded in 1959 and its annual journalism awards program has grown steadily over the years to become one of the most competitive and prestigious in the state.
Each quarter, the Judiciary Times publishes statewide and local news stories about the New Jersey courts, including new programs and services offered by the Judiciary, recent events held around the state, accomplishments of judges and staff and a quarterly message from the administrative director. The Judiciary Times newsletter is available at judiciary.state.nj.us
Comfort and Mathis will join other award winners to be honored June 12 at a ceremony at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.
