Criminal Division Overview Now Available Online
A guide to New Jersey's criminal court procedures, developed as an introduction to court staff assigned to the Division, has been posted on the Judiciary Web site at njcourtsonline.com, today announced Joseph J. Barraco, assistant director of criminal practice. Used widely by court staff, the guide can also be a reference tool for attorneys, litigants, law students and members of the public seeking information on how criminal cases are handled by the Judiciary.
The Criminal Division Overview includes policies and procedures adopted by the New Jersey Supreme Court, the Judicial Council and the Administrative Director of the Courts, to help ensure statewide compliance and consistency in resolving criminal cases.
"This overview helps staff provide fair and equal access to justice around the state," said Barraco. "Publishing the guide on the Web site furthers another important goal: building public trust and confidence in the fairness and consistency with which all of our criminal cases are resolved."
The overview can be found by selecting Administrative Office of the Courts/Criminal Division/Overview on the Web site.
