The Supreme Court of New Jersey and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey will co-host a swearing-in ceremony for new attorneys in the Patriots' Theater at the Trenton War Memorial on Tuesday, May 29 at 10 a.m. Approximately 650 people are expected to attend.
The event is the first time since 1993 that the courts have hosted a joint swearing-in of new attorneys.
Chief Justice James R. Zazzali will offer opening remarks and grant a Motion of Admittance to the Bar of the State of New Jersey made by Lynn Fontaine Newsome, Esq., president of the New Jersey Bar Association. Chief Judge Garrett E. Brown Jr. will grant a Motion of Admittance to the Bar of the United States District Court, District of New Jersey, made by Carl D. Poplar, Esq., president of the Association of the Federal Bar of the State of New Jersey.
Speakers include Supreme Court Associate Justice Virginia A. Long, Bar President Newsome, and Melville D. Miller Jr., Esq., president and general counsel of Legal Services of New Jersey, Inc.
