Superior Court Collaborates with Passaic County Technical Institute
On March 20, 2006 the Passaic County Superior Court will team up with Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) for a job shadowing/ mentoring program. The students, who are enrolled in the School of Business Careers, will get a chance to utilize their talents in a work setting. Once the program starts, each student will be placed in a division where they will be assigned a mentor and certain job functions. They will work from 1:30-4:30pm each day for a total of three weeks. The program is expected to offer the students a valuable insight to real life work situations.
In order to participate in the program, the students must be in their junior year, maintain an acceptable grade point average and/or teacher recommendation and have parental permission. In return, the students will receive valuable work experience, a true critique of their work habits and the experience will count as a portion of their grade. The school will provide transportation for the students.
“This program is a great way to reach out to students of the community, it will offer them a chance to develop skills and relationships that will undoubtedly help them in the future” stated Michael Costabile, Human Resources Division Manager.
This not the first time the vicinage has collaborated with PCTI School to Careers Department; the court currently has several students who work as interns in various divisions. Kirk L. Nixon, Trial Court Administrator stated, “The students are a great help, they are all very bright and resourceful. I am sure the group that starts in April will be just as good if not better”.For additional information please contact Michael Costabile, Human Resource Manager at 973-247-8007.
