Monmouth Vicinage 2005 Law Day Celebration

The Superior Court of New Jersey, Monmouth Vicinage and the Monmouth Bar Association will conduct their annual Law Day ceremony on Monday, May 2, at 4:00 p.m. in the Hall of Records General Equity courtroom, located at Main and Court Streets in Freehold Borough.

Monmouth County joins countless other communities nationwide in celebrating Law Day and this year's theme: "The American Jury: We the People in Action." This year marks the 48th anniversary of Law Day and is designated as a national day to celebrate the rule of law and the legal process.

Chief Justice Deborah T. Poritz will deliver Law Day remarks by videotape. Other speakers include Assignment Judge Lawrence M. Lawson, Monmouth Superior Court; Monmouth Bar Association President-Elect, John F. DeBartolo; and President of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Edwin J. McCreedy who will deliver the keynote address.

The program will also include the presentation of the Honorable Daniel J. O'Hern Mock Trial Award to Middletown South High School, this year's county champions. Retired Supreme Court Justice O'Hern will be joined by Marie A. Accardi and Ronald T. Catelli, mock trial committee chairs, in presenting the award to the team and to Rae Koumoulis, the team's coach. A representative from each school that participated in the contest has been invited to attend to receive a certificate of honor.

In addition, Assignment Judge Lawson will present plaques to the following winners of the "Law Day 2005 Essay and Poster Contests" sponsored by the Monmouth Vicinage Advisory Committee on Minority Concerns: Sneha Deshpande, Viviana Rosas, Amanda Sansevere, Theresa Hroncich, Sean Moss, Elizabeth Maricic, Vivian Chang, Heather Chang, Apurva Shah, Michael Wiatrak, and Hailey Johnson.
