Statement on Justice Virginia Long
New Jersey Supreme Court Associate Justice Virginia Long sustained serious injuries in an auto accident early in the afternoon on Sunday, June 27 in Stafford Twp., Ocean County. She is expected to make a full recovery and return to her duties on the Court in the near future.
Justice Long was treated initially at Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin and later was taken to the University Hospital, Newark, where she underwent surgery early Monday morning for injuries to her left eye. She also sustained broken ribs, a broken clavicle, a broken scapula, and numerous injuries to bones in her face. She will undergo additional surgery to treat the broken bones.
