John Grant Sworn in as Deputy Clerk for the Appellate Division

Trenton, N.J..New Jersey Chief Justice Deborah T. Poritz has signed an order appointing John Grant of Tabernacle, N.J., as Deputy Clerk for Case Processing for the Appellate Division of New Jersey Superior Court.
The Chief Justice's Order calls for the appointment to be effective on the taking of his oath of office September 9, 2002, at a salary to be determined in accordance with Judiciary salary regulations.
Judge Sylvia B. Pressler, presiding judge of the Appellate Division, conducted the swearing-in at the Appellate Division Courtroom in the Richard J. Hughes Justice Complex, Trenton.
As Deputy Clerk, Grant will be responsible for oversight of operations in the Clerk's Office including paralegal review, the five case management teams, calendaring, records management and all other related functions.
"John is a dedicated and talented employee of the Appellate Division," said Judge Pressler. "We are delighted that he has been appointed Deputy Clerk."
Grant joined the Judiciary in March 1986 as a case manager. He was promoted to the Calendaring Unit in December 1990 as calendaring coordinator and has been responsible for the management of calendaring operations, providing judges with ready cases for appellate review, scheduling of oral arguments, preparation and maintenance of the yearly court master calendar. He monitored quality control of the case processing operations and was involved in the development of the Automated Case Management System (ACMS), the Appellate Division electronic docketing system.
Grant, 41, holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice with minors in Psychology and Sociology from The College of New Jersey and completed the state's Certified Public Manager program. His wife, Catherine, is a fifth-grade teacher in the Stafford Township School District. The Grants have a son Ian, who is nine, and a daughter Emma, who is five.
