General Operations Division Manager

The Jury Management Unit is responsible for qualifying and summoning both petit and grand jurors. In the Passaic Vicinage petit jurors are summoned for either three days or for one day. In either case, if selected for a trial the jurors will serve for the duration of that trial and then be excused. Grand jurors serve two days per week for a two-month period.

The Passaic County Interpreters' Unit services all courts in all Divisions, including court mandated Diversionary Programs, such as, Arbitration, Mediation etc. At this time the unit consists of 7 full-time Spanish-speaking staff interpreters.

All court records are maintained for the period of time prescribed by Court Rule. The vicinage maintains active records within each division. Records of disposed cases are maintained in an off site facility. Individuals wishing copies of specific records should contact the division in which the matter was heard.

The law library is located on the second floor of 77 Hamilton Street. The library has a full collection of New Jersey statutes and case law, federal statutes and case law and regional reporters. The library also has reference books on main areas of interest for the legal profession.

The General Operations Division coordinates the Vicinage Volunteer and Complementary Dispute Resolution programs in the Family, Municipal, Civil and Probation Divisions.
The specific programs associated with each of the divisions are as follows:
Family Division:Oversees the Vicinage's Juvenile Conference Committees (JCC) and Child Placement Review (CPR) Boards.
Municipal Division: Oversees the Vicinage's Municipal Complementary Dispute Resolution (CDR)/Mediation Program.
Probation Division: Oversees the Volunteers In Education (VIE) Program. The VIE program is an attempt to coordinate the supervision of a juvenile offender between the judiciary and the youth's school system. The purpose of the program is to identify problems that may result in continued delinquent behavior. The juvenile's progress is monitored by a probation officer assigned to the Probation Division. The officer and the volunteer remain in regular contact, keeping each other informed of every aspect of the juvenile's case.
