The Supreme Court has approved a pilot program for the Essex County Special Civil Part to use a Special Master to handle certain non-dispositive landlord/tenant procedures. The pilot program began on July 9, 2001. The program’s effectiveness will be evaluated after one year by representatives of the Judiciary and Legal Services of New Jersey.
Eva Piotrowski, Esq. has been appointed as the Essex Landlord/Tenant Master by Assignment Judge Falcone. Ms. Piotrowski’s duties as Landlord/Tenant Master will include: acceptance of dismissals and defaults; conducting settlement conferences; mediating some non-Marini cases; taking applications for release of funds on deposit with the court after cases have been resolved; and hearing and making findings on post-judgment relief applications, and preparing the necessary order for review and signature by a judge.
Questions or requests for information about this pilot program should be directed to Vanessa Hendrickson, Essex Assistant Civil Division Manager, at (973) 693-6526.
