NOTICE TO THE BAR

HEARING (MAY 17) ON RULE AMENDMENTS PROPOSED BY SUPREME COURT RULES COMMITTEES

The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing on Supreme Court Committee reports for Monday, May 17, 2010, in the Supreme Court courtroom, Hughes Justice Complex, Trenton. The hearing will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will cover the following 2008-2010 reports previously published and posted for comment:

(1) Civil Practice Committee (Report and Supplemental Report)
(2) Professional Responsibility Rules Committee (“PRRC”)
(3) Special Civil Part Practice Committee (Report and Supplemental Report)
(4) Committee on the Tax Court

The hearing also will cover the following previously published proposed specific rule amendments: 

            (5) PRRC Out-of-Cycle Report on Requests to Amend RPC 7.3 Regarding Solicitation Letters (notice dated July 1, 2009)
            (6) Proposed Amendment to RPC 7.3(b)(5) (notice dated March 18, 2010)
            (7) Proposed amendment to Amicus Curiae Rule (R. 1:13-9) (notice dated      March 31, 2010)

            All of these reports and recommendations are posted on the Judiciary’s Internet website (at www.njcourts.com).

Anyone who wishes to speak at the May 17 hearing should notify the Clerk of the Supreme Court in writing by Monday, May 10, 2010, at the address set forth below. The request must specify the proposal(s) on which the individual seeks to speak and whether the speaker will be representing an organization. Please note that the limit on each speaker's presentation is five minutes.  The address is:
