The Office of Attorney Ethics is seeking qualified attorney candidates for membership on the District V-A (Essex - Newark) Ethics Committee for the four-year term beginning September 1, 2008. District Ethics Committee attorney members investigate and/or prosecute grievances. Interested candidates should allow one and one-half days per month for this challenging and important work. Candidates for the District V-A committee must be admitted to the New Jersey bar for a minimum of five (5) years and must live or maintain a practice in Essex County. In addition, candidates may not hold elective or appointive county, state, or federal office and may not serve in law enforcement positions. Selected candidates may not personally represent any party before any Supreme Court disciplinary committee. Selected attorneys may elect to claim an exemption on an annual basis from pro bono assignments during their term. All appointments are by the Supreme Court of New Jersey.
