Supreme Court Order on Cumberland County Municipal Court First Appearance Program

It is hereby ORDERED that, effective immediately and until further Order, Municipal Court Judge David E. Krell, Municipal Court Presiding Judge for Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem Counties (Vicinage 15), shall serve as acting municipal court judge in all municipalities in Cumberland County for the purpose of conducting first appearance hearings and dispositions, including those for pending municipal court cases subject to detainers, on a centralized basis, either in person or by video, at the Cumberland County Jail; and

It is FURTHER ORDERED that for the purpose of this program, the provisions of Rule 1:15-4 are hereby relaxed to exempt the above-named judge's law partners, employers, employees, office associates, and shareholders from the limitations on the practice of law in Cumberland County otherwise imposed on them by that Rule; and

It is FURTHER ORDERED that this centralized first appearance program is authorized on an interim basis under the supervision of Assignment Judge Georgia M. Curio, who periodically shall report to the Court on the program.
