The role of the Probation Services Division is to promote the welfare and safety of children, families and communities in New Jersey by enforcing court orders, supervising offenders, monitoring behavior, and intervening to produce positive outcomes.

Adult Supervision Services

Supervision of adults placed on Probation by the Superior and Municipal Courts, including monitoring and enforcement of standard and special conditions of probation. Supervision of Morris and Sussex County residents placed on probation by other jurisdictions, including other states, when the matter is transferred to this office. Monitors all court-imposed community service.

 

The purpose of the Probation Child Support Enforcement Program is
to aid the Court by monitoring and enforcing support orders to ensure
that children receive the financial and medical support to which they are entitled.  Probation accomplishes this goal in part, by:

  • The collection of support payments ordered by the Court.
  • Automatic deduction by income withholding on wages, unemployment compensation, etc.
  • Utilization of Administrative sanctions such as, Tax Refund Offset, Credit Bureau Reporting, Passport Denial.
  • Enforcement of support orders by a return to Court when an Obligor fails to pay as ordered
  • Entry of Judgment for accumulated arrears.

Juvenile Supervision Services

Supervises juveniles placed on Probation by the Family Court, including monitoring and enforcement of standard and special conditions of probation. Supervision of Morris and Sussex County residents placed on probation by other jurisdictions, including other states, when the matter is transferred to this office. Monitors all court-imposed community service.
