Information Technology Office
The Information Systems Unit provides technical service and expertise in computer hardware, software and training to Judges and court staff. Automation is becoming an increasingly important tool for managing the workload of the Courts. Computers allow judicial staff to perform more efficiently by reducing the time needed to provide services, while improving quality and accuracy.
There are two types of information systems currently in place throughout the Court: mainframes and personal computers. The mainframe used by the Superior Court in Morris and Sussex counties is located at the AOC in Trenton. Case information in the Civil, Criminal, and Family divisions throughout the state of New Jersey is contained on the mainframe and is accessed via terminals throughout the state. The various programs are Promis/Gavel in Criminal, ACMS in Civil, FACTS in Family and Probation. OMNI in Jury and CABS in the Bail unit.
In addition, a Local Area Network (LAN) is in place in Morris and Sussex County to connect personal computers to each other and to Trenton.
The Coordinator of Information Systems may be contacted at 973-656-3974.
