Interpretation/Translation Unit
The Interpretation/Translation Unit provides interpretation and translation services and coordinates all other language services needed by the Superior Court or other court support services. These services are required by N.J.S.A. 2B:8-1, which requires that each court provide interpreting services necessary for cases in the Law Division and the Family part of the Chancery Division and by N.J.S.A. 34:1-69, which requires that certified interpreters be available for the hearing impaired in official proceedings. In Morris County, these services are provided by an appointed court interpreter who coordinates all cross-cultural communication services. Population growth, increases in volume of cases, and changes in the law have the diversity of our user population continues to grow, the demand for such services continues to increase. In Sussex County, interpreting and
translation services are provided by private agencies and individuals on a per
diem basis. Scheduling arrangements are handled by the Assistant Trial Court
