The Middlesex County Law Library is located on the second floor of the Courthouse at 56 Paterson St. in New Brunswick. The library is open to the general public from 8:30 - 4:00 PM Monday through Friday, excluding state Holidays. The telephone number is 732-519-3452.
The mission of the library is to provide free and effective access to legal information.
The comprehensive law collection includes New Jersey and New York statutes as well as the United States Code, US Supreme Court cases, the Atlantic Reporter , New York Supplement, CFR, Bankruptcy Reporter, ALR and various subject treatises, formbooks and NJICLE publications. The collection is for reference use only and may not be loaned out to the public.
The law library does distribute some pro se packets. Other sample forms may be copied from the various legal form books and practice series volumes.
Copies are 15 cents per page and in addition to coins, the machine accepts one and five dollar bills. The library does not provide change of any kind to the patrons.
While the library staff can provide access to legal information, it is not the duty of the staff to analyze any patron's legal situation or to aid in drafting legal forms or to provide legal advice.
