Gerald A. Buccafusco as trial court administrator has been named trial court administrator in Hudson Vicinage.
Buccafusco will succeed Joseph F. Davis, who will be retiring.
“Jerry has extensive experience in case management, budget and human resources, and he has a full command of all court-related technology issues,” said Assignment Judge Maurice J. Gallipoli. “He is well-respected in the vicinage, where his colleagues often go to him for advice. Having worked closely with Jerry myself, I have a high degree of confidence that he will perform well as the trial court administrator.”
The trial court administrator is the highest ranking staff executive in the vicinage in charge of all court operations, including financial management, human resources, information systems, case coordination, case flow management, probation services, jury utilization, facilities, equipment, maintenance, records management and statistical analysis.
Under New Jersey court rules, the administrative director of the courts appoints the trial court administrator in each vicinage. Acting Administrative Director Judge Glenn A. Grant said he named Buccafusco on the strong recommendation of Judge Gallipoli.
An attorney, Buccafusco has filled a number of positions in Hudson Vicinage since joining the Judiciary in 1990. He has served as the information technology division manager since July 2000.
Prior to leading the IT Division, Buccafusco served as the human resources division manager from 1998 to 2001 and as the assistant trial court administrator from 1991 to 1998.
In addition to those assignments, Buccafusco has provided critical leadership as acting director of the Jersey City Municipal Courts since April 2008, and he has led that court through a significant overhaul of its operations.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to serve the Hudson Vicinage in this new role,” said Buccafusco. “I want to thank Judge Gallipoli and my colleagues for making this such a wonderful place to work.”
A graduate of New York University and Seton Hall University School of Law, Buccafusco began his career as an attorney in private practice. He resides in Basking Ridge with his wife Marlene, a realtor, and his daughter Marissa.
