EMERGENCY CLOSING REGARDING
SCHEDULED CASES and EMERGENT MATTERS

CIVIL CASES

If a Civil Case (L) has been listed for trial and the Court is closed due to an emergency, the matter will be listed for a new date and you will be notified by the Court of the new date.

If your case has been scheduled for a miscellaneous proceeding (proof, friendly, settlement conference, return date of order to show cause, etc.) and the Court is closed due to an emergency, the proceeding will be rescheduled and you will be notified by the Court of the new date.

If  you are seeking emergent relief from the Civil Court please contact the Sheriff’s Office they will contact the Civil Emergent Duty Judge.

SPECIAL CIVIL PART

If a Landlord/tenant (LT) case is listed for a trial and the Court is closed due to an emergency, the matter will be listed for a new date and you will be notified by the Court of the new date.

If a Small Claims (SC) or Civil(DC) case is listed for a trial and the Court is closed due to an emergency closing, the matter will be listed for a new date and you will be notified by the Court of a new date.

If your case is listed for a miscellaneous proceeding or a return date on an Order to Show Case and the Court is closed due to an emergency closing, the matter will be listed for a new date and you will be notified by the Court of the new date.

If you are scheduled to be LOCKED OUT OF YOUR RESIDENCE and the courts are closed there will be no lockouts executed by Special Civil Part Officers until the courts re-open.

If you have been ILLEGALLY LOCKED OUT of your residence please contact the Sheriff’s Department.
