Accommodations for Individuals with Disabilities


The Vicinage ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) Coordinator is Sheila Y. Devereaux, ATCA.  As a general rule, it is the responsibility of an individual with a disability to request an accommodation and the responsibility of the Judiciary to provide a reasonable accommodation.  This general rule applies to employment and personnel practices as well as accessibility to the court’s programs, services or activities.

The following hearing, vision and mobility auxiliary aids are available:

  • Assisted listening devices.
  • Real-time transcription or computer-aided transcription.
  • American Sign Language, minimal language competency, signed English interpreters or oral lip reading services.  Individuals are encouraged to inform the court at least four weeks prior to the scheduled court appearance.
  • Dial 7-1-1 for the New Jersey Relay Service for assistance with TTY/TDD calls. 
  • Audio versions and Braille transcription of select public information resources.
  • Braille signage is displayed throughout the court complex.
  • Large print copies of court forms and instruction sheets.
  • Magnifying lamps.
  • Wheelchair accessible entrances and wheelchair lifts.  Individuals are encouraged to inform the court at least two weeks prior to the scheduled court appearance.
  • Accessible parking spaces.
