The Criminal Records Office for Essex Vicinage is located in the:

Essex County Veterans Courthouse
50 West Market Street, Room 912
Newark, New Jersey 07102

This office is the keeper of the criminal records of cases handled in the Superior Court.
Requests for public records may be made by mail or in person at the above listed address between the hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. No telephone inquires are honored.
Records which are deemed public record are available for copying or inspection. There are fees for records:

Fees are payable to the Treasurer, State of New Jersey in money orders, checks, or payable in cash.

Records from 1930 to present are available through this office. Records from 1930 to 1987 are presently being microfilmed. There may be a short delay in obtaining these records.

There is a form that must be completed when requesting records. Inspection of public records is permitted however, it is by appointment only. You may call (973) 776-9300 ext. 55931 to request an appoint.

Limited computerized public access to records is available in the Information and Community Relations Center Room 132 in the Veterans Courthouse.
