CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT

It is the role of the Child Support Enforcement Section to enforce orders of support entered by the court and to disburse all monies collected in a timely and accurate fashion. All cases are supervised by staff who implement various enforcement techniques as mandated by Federal Regulation and State Statute.

The majority of collections are made through the use of income withholding where the child support enforcement office attaches any known source of income which can include, but is not limited to, wages, commissions and unemployment benefits. Secondarily, the child support enforcement office prepares cases for Enforcement of Litigants Rights to bring those obligors before the court where income withholding is not a possible enforcement technique. Finally, the non-traditional methods used to collect past due support include Federal and State Income Tax Refund Offset, Homestead Rebate Offset, Lottery Offset, Judgment Liens and Reporting of Delinquents to Credit Bureaus.

Child Support cases can include those cases where both parties live within the State of New Jersey or those situations where one party lives out of state. In these cases the use of existing regulations and statutes enable us to work with the courts in the appropriate jurisdiction to attempt to secure the support entered by the court.

Finally, it is the mission of this office to provide quality and professional service to all of our "customers" whether they be the obligee or the obligor. It is our duty to enforce, collect, and disburse all that is rightfully due to the obligee in a fair and timely manner.

ADULT SUPERVISION

The Adult Section generally provides for the supervision of offenders in the community as an alternative to incarceration. Our primary goals are to direct the rehabilitation of individuals who have become involved with the courts at any level, and at the same time assure the protection of the community.

Towards this end, offenders are directed into the appropriate medical or psychological treatment, drug/alcohol rehabilitation, and vocational/educational programs. Specialized caseloads for sex offenders, domestic violence offenders, drug offenders, and the mentally ill are utilized when appropriate.

Finally, the Adult Section assigns and supervises Community Service sentences from the various courts. Through the program, offenders are required to provide services to the community by working a specified number of hours for a public non-profit or government agency. There is virtually no limit to the type of work that can be done and to date, offenders have returned hundreds of thousands of hours back to the community.

JUVENILE SUPERVISION

The Juvenile Section supervises juvenile offenders placed on probation by Family Court. Deferred dispositions, and Juvenile Referee cases are also monitored. Specialized caseloads include: Sex Offenders, Juvenile Drug Court, DAIS (Detention Alternative Intensive Supervision) and SIP (State Incentive Proram). School based officers have been assigned to Woodrow Wilson High School, Camden High School and Pennsauken High School.

The goal of Juvenile Supervision is to provide services that assist these juvenile offenders to develop and lead healthy, productive lives.

ADMINISTRATION

The Administrative Section supervises and coordinates the operations of all Probation Sections and Units. Administration is directed by the Vicinage Chief Probation Officer and Assistant Chief Probation Officer who are responsible for monitoring the services provided by all other sections as well as ensuring problems resolution for the public.

The functions of budget preparation, preparation of financial statements, all personnel matters, and training for Probation staff are performed by Administration.
