The Committee on Women in the Courts comprises judges, attorneys and court personnel who are appointed to renewable two-year terms. It includes representatives from several bar associations, private firms, state agencies, Legal Services of New Jersey, Rutgers Law School—Camden, Rutgers Law School—Newark and Seton Hall University Law School.
The work of the Committee is carried out through four subcommittees—
The Bar Education Subcommittee provides educational programming to attorneys through local bar associations and inns of court.
The Judicial Education Subcommittee provides educational programming to state and municipal judges at training meetings and informal settings.
The Law School Education Subcommittee develops programming for law students in conjunction with the three New Jersey law schools.
The Women of Color Subcommittee concerns itself with issues specific to women of color, whose experience of bias may be compounded by race or ethnic prejudice.
The committee does not investigate individual cases of bias.
If you have questions about the work of the committee, call 609-292-9580.
